How much does it cost to rent a porta potty?

Updated 3 min read3 sources linked

Short answer

A standard porta potty rents for about $75 to $200 a day, $100 to $350 a week, or $100 to $300 a month with weekly service included, based on 2026 pricing published by two operators. Construction units run $125 to $275 per month. Flushing units, ADA units and restroom trailers cost more.

Standard portable toilet on a residential jobsite
$75-$200 per day for a standard unit
$125-$275 per unit per month on construction sites
$50-$100 extra per month for a hand wash station

These are published industry ranges, not our price. We are a dispatch line: the price you pay is set by the licensed local operator who delivers and services the unit, and it depends on your zip code, the unit, the rental length and the season. What follows is what two operators published in 2026, so you know what a fair quote looks like before you call.

Why a month costs less per day than a weekend

Most of an operator's cost is the truck trip: delivery, pickup and each service visit. A one-day rental carries a full delivery and a full pickup for one day of use. A monthly rental spreads the same two trips over four weeks, and weekly service is usually built in. The CT, NY, NJ operator's guide puts it plainly: rental length moves the per-day price more than any other single variable, and monthly rates become the better deal for anything past about two weeks.

Add-ons that change the quote

Common add-on fees, as published
Add-onPublished range
Hand wash station$50-$100 extra per month (national)
Extra service visit$30-$60 per visit (national); $75-$150 per trip in CT, NY, NJ
Delivery$50-$100 per trip; $100-$300 for urban or restricted-access sites (CT, NY, NJ)
Winter antifreeze$10-$20 per unit per billing cycle (both)

On a construction site, the hand wash station is often required: by OSHA wherever crews work with paints, coatings or other harmful contaminants, by Cal/OSHA on every site in California, and by many general contractors' safety plans (hand washing requirements).

When you book matters

Peak season runs from April to October, and prices are higher then. The national guide reports that booking four to eight weeks ahead can save 10 to 20 percent. For a wedding or a festival with a fixed date, that is worth a call early. For a jobsite that starts Monday, it is not an option, and same-day delivery is priced accordingly.

How many units you order is most of the bill

The biggest lever on the total is the count, not the unit price. Ordering one unit too many on a monthly jobsite costs a unit-month; ordering one too few costs extra service visits or a complaint from the crew. Size it first with the porta potty calculator or the how many porta potties guide, then get the quote.

What to ask on the phone

  • Is weekly service included in the monthly price, and what does an extra visit cost?
  • Are delivery and pickup in the quote, or separate lines?
  • Does the site have any access issue, such as a gate, a slope or a tight street, that changes the delivery fee?
  • Is there a winter charge, and from which month?
  • Is there any fee beyond the rental, delivery and service lines?
